Oh my god, if an iChat Mobile phone happens, and my boyfriend gets a hold of one, I'm doomed. I can't get him away from the computer now as it is, but if he has a way to IM his friends while we're on the street.... ack!!! This could be seriously dangerous to chat junkies.

As for design, I'm REALLY hoping for a flip phone -- but something tells me Apple is going to go with a candy bar design. The only reason I hate those is because no matter HOW complicated it is to lock/unlock the keys, it manages to ALWAYS happen in my pocket. And then I unknowingly place calls to people without realizing it, which is my worst nightmare.

By the way, I think "iChat Mobile" sounds a bit silly for some reason. It almost sounds like it's not a real phone, but a "play" one. Does anyone else get that impression?

The problem with .Me is all in your mind. No one really cares what the extension is, it just a means to an end. Short suffixes are must easier, whatever they are.

I just don't agree. Whatever they are ? So it it was short like or (fill in the underscore yourself), would they care then? I think they would. To me its all about image. Short is nice, but it should be NEUTRAL. The word 'me' does not fit the neutral part, just like 'sex' or 's__t' does not. Of course this is just opinion.

Is there a way to go back to a configuration of a few days ago? My cousin has been messing around with my computer and I want to put it all back the way it was. (I have never used the time machine on this computer so I don't think that will help)

Clive, I am with you, but unfortunately we live in a society that worship celebrities and violence. It won't change.
Teachers should start salaries in the $100k a year and climb up from there to the amount of years in the job. But it's a dream that will never happen.:(

Beautifully said. I couldn't expound anymore on this wonderful observation. The iPod is against the grain of celebrity and violence thank goodness. Maybe bring us worldpeace eh? :)

First response: Hell ya I would! (Pat on his back) :D

Second response: Sounds like someone doesn't know how to be a parent. You obviously don't feel comfortable with him going, so don't let him!

Your the parent! What you say goes, whether he is 18 or not.

You failed to note the "homework" that Sub Baked did. It seems that the poster was not the "adult'; but rather the 18 yo.

Is this well-veiled sarcasm? If not, you guys are ridiculous.

    1) Google does not own the mapping database they use
    2) Even if they did, there are multiple geographic/mapping data providers
    3) None of them obtained their data by having employees drive around in vehicles... That's an absurd suggestion

Konfabulator: The closest thing to Tiger's Dashboard feature. This widget launcher is free, cool and very well done. Great for webcams, weather alerts, stock quotes etc.

    Konfab is free now?

    As for me:

Quicksilver -- practically replaces the Dock and Finder...also, triggers are quite useful

mp3 Sushi -- creates a little radio station on my network...tune into the stream from 2 users on the same computer and send one of the itunes over to you've got your library playing on your computer's speakers and on AX...a little bit of lag, but useful if you're speakers are in separate rooms.

    Genius -- for language study.

    MacJanitor -- housekeeping
MacStumbler -- see what's going on in the wireless realm
MacTracker -- info on all macs

Meteorologist -- menubar weather....I have it set to give me weather for multiple zip codes (always intersted in what's going on back in my home state of Texas!)

TransparentDock -- puts the Dock where you want it and allows you to match it with your for ultimate aesthetic yumminess

VLC -- for those stubborn multimedia files

GeekTool -- currently I'm only using it to create an updating screensaver of radar images from -- I really like to know the weather!

All of these should be available from versiontracker...sorry for not posting links.

    Hi all,

Had a google around and can't find much on this and wondered whether anybody has seen this before or knows why this might be happening...The file server is a 10.6.6 Snow Leopard install with Sharepoints being mapped over both AFP and Samba. As an example of the current networked environment I have the following:

    User A - Computer A: Windows 7 (Office Basic 2007 installed)
    User B - Computer B: Intel iMac 10.6.6 with Office 2008 installed
User C - Server Administrative Account

A 'Management' AFP/SMB share that has permissions set on the root folder:

    User A - Allow/Full Control/This Folder,Child Folder, Child Files, All Descendants
    User B - Allow/Full Control/This Folder,Child Folder, Child Files, All Descendants
    User C - Allow/Full Control/This Folder,Child Folder, Child Files, All Descendants
Everyone - Deny/Read (So the share is hidden to other groups and users)

    User C - Allow/Read Write/This Folder
    Staff - No Access
    Others - No Access
(I'm sure wheel should be here too??? - Couldn't find a way to add it!)

Now the problem is that when User A creates any type of office document and saves it, User B can see the documents in the share but when they click on it, the file vanishes from the share! When checking the permissions on the file itself, it seems that when User A creates or edits a new or existing file that the permissions get overwritten as:

    User A - Read Write
    Everyone - No Access

The same happens when User B creates an Office document and User A opens or edits it!

I also have Strict Locking enabled for the SMB protocol

Have I set the permissions incorrectly or is this just a generic SMB problem??

    Any help would be appreciated!!
